tome topple tbr

The Challenges:

  • Read an adult tome.

I have a few options for this challenge, they are: All the Light We Cannot See, A Discovery of Witches, The Historian, or The Secret History. I don’t know which one I’ll go with – I feel like The Historian would be the best one to read because it’s the most daunting to me, so I many choose that one.

  • Read the tome that’s been on your tbr the longest.

I don’t actually know which of my tomes has been on my TBR the longest. So I’m not sure what I’m going to do for this challenge… I might read Inkheart. This would be a reread of sorts because my fifth grade teacher would read to us every day after lunch, and this was one of the books that she chose to read. I can remember being enthralled with the world that Funke created, and I would love to revisit my childhood.

  • Read a tome in a genre that you don’t usually read.

I don’t usually paranormal, mystery/thriller, romance, sci-fi, or horror. If I’m being honest, I usually only read fantasy, poetry, and contemporary, so those are the only ones that are off the table. My options for this challenge are: A Discovery of Witches (paranormal), The Historian (mystery), and The Secret History (mystery).

  • Read a tome that is a part of a series.

The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue, Strange the Dreamer, Inkheart, and A Discovery of Witches are all the first books in a series. So any one of these would count towards this challenge.

  • Read more than one tome.

I hope to read at least one book physically, but I have checked out the audiobooks for Strange the Dreamer and The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue (for car rides and times when I don’t feel up to physically reading).
