may tbr

For this month I will only be taking part in one read-a-thon; however, I will also be joining a BookTuber in the theme that they chose for their TBR this month.

The read-a-thon that I will be participating in this month is the Buzzword Read-A-Thon. It is being ran by Lala (booksandlala) and Dylan (dylanthereader5), and will be running from May 7th to the 13th. The buzzword for this round is “girl.” Any book with a title or subtitle containing a variation of the word may be read during the read-a-thon. For more information on the Buzzword Read-A-Thon check out my announcement post.

The books that I will be reading this month that fulfills the challenge are: Fangirl, The Goose Girl, Anne Frank: the Diary of a Young Girl, The Girls, Girls Made of Snow and Glass, Brown Girl Dreaming, I am Malala: the Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot By the Taliban.

Monica (shemightbemonica) has been setting themes for her monthly TBR’s recently, and May’s theme is “books by Asian-American authors.” I decided to join her, and went to the library to find some books. After combing through aisles and finding some books that I was interested in, I discovered that not all of the authors were Asian-American. So, I decided that I would broaden the theme to “books by Asian authors (that currently live in North America).”

These are the books that I chose that fit the broadened version of the theme: The Wrath and the Dawn, To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, American Panda, When Dimple Met Rishi, Saints and Misfits, I am Malala: the Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot By the Taliban, I Believe in a Thing Called Love, and Love, Hate, and Other Filters. Most of them are contemporary because that’s what I’m in the mood for.

Some other books that I hope to get to in May are The Female Persuasion and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. There are two bookstores in my area that have chosen The Female Persuasion as their book club book, so I’ll be reading this one first. Also, I hope to continue with my Harry Potter reread, and I should be able to complete the fourth book in the series, but who knows what will happen.

These are all of the books that I hope to get to in May:

Wish me luck!
